Thomas Clauder was a 1971 graduate of Madison Edgewood High School where he participated in basketball and baseball. After high school graduation, Tom attended MATC and played basketball. He led the team both years in field goal percentage, shooting 54 percent. In 1976, Tom returned to MATC and received his Associate Degree in Liberal Studies. A few years later, he became an active member of the MATC Liberal Studies Advisory Committee, serving for several years. MATC recognized his efforts and commitments by presenting him with a service and dedication award.

Since 1976 he has been a police officer for the city of Fitchburg, where he received a commendation from the FBI for his initiative and professionalism during a 1981 investigation and apprehension. Tom shows concern for his neighborhood and has served as vice president of the Wildwood South Neighborhood Association in Fitchburg. He has been a member of the Madison Elks.
