Mark Butcher is a graduate of Monona Grove High School where he was a National Honor Society student in 1973 and 1974. At MATC, Mark was also an honor student with a perfect 4.0 GPA. He received his Associate Degree in Electronics in 1977.

At MATC, Mark became an outstanding wrestler. He was the WTCC Conference Champion in 1977 and a WJCAA State Champion in 1976 and 1977. Mark was the MATC Most Valuable Wrestler and a NJCAA National Tournament qualifier in 1977 at 150 pounds. At the time of his induction, Mark still held MATC records for the most takedowns in one year [111] and several other two-year total records, including: most accumulated team points and total takedowns.

Mark's hobbies include bible study, gardening, wrestling in old-timer tournaments, softball and electronics. Mark and his wife, Margo, have three children: Joshua, Matthew and Jennifer.
