Brandon Gibis was the epitome of student-athlete during his time at Madison College. From the moment he stepped on campus, Brandon, an all-conference and all-area standout baseball player from Wauconda, Illinois, began making an impact for the WolfPack.

His first season in 2014, Brandon was second on the team with a .347 batting average, 59 hits, 49 runs scored, and 14 stolen bases. He also added 20 runs batted in, as well as gave Madison College some time on the mound, appearing in six games and going 1-0 with a 3.00 earned run average. Brandon and the WolfPack went 45-17 that spring, earning North Central Community College and Region 4 championships on their path to a third-place finish at the NJCAA Division II World Series.

As a sophomore in 2015, Brandon kept right on producing as he paced the Pack in several offensive categories, including a .452 batting average, 84 hits, 60 runs scored, and 14 stolen bases. Those numbers proved to be historic, with Brandon ranking second in program history for hits in a single season, fifth in batting average, and sixth in runs scored. He also added 30 runs batted in, as well as a 1-0 pitching record with a 0.00 ERA over seven appearances. Madison College again claimed N4C and Region 4 crowns, and reached the NJCAA Division II World Series for a record-setting sixth consecutive time. Their eighth-place finish in Enid, Oklahoma, capped a 42-12 campaign. Brandon was rewarded for his outstanding play, earning Third Team NJCAA All-American, First Team All-Region 4, and First Team All-N4C.

For his career, Brandon helped the WolfPack to an 87-29 record, four championships, and back-to-back national tournament appearances. He ranks second in school history with 143 career hits, fourth in runs scored with 109, and ninth in career batting average at .402. Brandon was also no slouch in the classroom, earning NJCAA All-Academic recognition and was a two-time N4C Academic All-Conference recipient. Following the 2014-15 academic year, Brandon took home two of the top honors within the Athletic Department as he was named the Madison College District Board Male Sportsperson of the Year and Madison College Top Male Scholar Athlete.

In 2026, Brandon was also inducted into the Region 4 Hall of Fame.

"Brandon was a worker in all aspects of being a student-athlete, and the amount of time I know he spent working extra at the plate and in the field really showed," stated Madison College Head Baseball Coach Mike Davenport. "He demonstrated as much growth from one-year to the next as anyone I've coached at Madison College. Brandon was also extremely selfless and willing to do whatever the team needed, which is evident with the amount of positions he played in field over two years. In a program that values selflessness, Brandon was the epitome of that characteristic."

Brandon left Madison College and played two more highly successful years of collegiate baseball at NCAA Division I University of Illinois-Chicago, helping the Flames win a Horizon League championship and reach the NJCAA Regionals. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. These days, Brandon resides in Mesa, Arizona, with his wife. He is a self-employed consultant and software engineer with Salesforce. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, playing volleyball and video games, and hiking with his wife and dog.
