Robert Kerl was a 1973 graduate of Madison West High School. At MATC, Robert majored in Police Science and was named the Most Valuable Wrestler in 1976. As a 190 pounder, Robert was a two-time NJCAA National Tournament qualifier, one of only four wrestlers to qualify both years.
Robert was also a two-time WTCC Conference Champion and a two-time WJCAA State Champion at MATC. He led the team in takedowns his freshman year and the most falls and fastest fall his sophomore year. In two years, he compiled an outstanding 59-19-2 record.
Robert volunteers his services as a referee for area youth wrestling tournaments. His hobbies include softball, bowling, and rope pulling. In rope pulling, he participated in the World Championships in Holland in 1986 as part of the U.S. All-Star team. Robert is married and his wife Nancy is also active in rope pulling.
