Charlotte, a gifted, versatile athlete competed for MATC cross country and track & field teams. With an interest in the heptathlon and willingness to try new events she sharpened her skills and saw it pay off at the end of the 1990 Track & Field season. In the 1990 Region XIII Track & Field Championships, Charlotte won all seven events including her favorite individual event, the 400 intermediate hurdles. Her point total at the meet was the second highest point total in Region XIII history. At the NJCAA National Meet, before divisions were created, Charlotte claimed honorable mention All-American status with a sixth place finish in the heptathlon. With the honor she became the first MATC female All-American in school history. During the 1990 track & field season, Charlotte was also named team MVP and established school records in seven different individual events.
Following graduation from MATC, she attended the University of Wisconsin on a track & field scholarship. Charlotte competed for the Badgers from 1990-1992 earning letters each of her two seasons. “Charlotte was a great addition to the Wisconsin Track Team. Her relentless pursuit to excel in the multi-events was eventually rewarded when she scored for Wisconsin in both Indoor and Outdoor Big Ten Championships,” explained Peter Tegen, Wisconsin Women’s Track & Field coach. “Charlotte was one of the hardest working and kindest student-athletes I have ever seen in our program. I’m glad she was here.”
In 1993, Charlotte graduated for the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Kinesiology. She has taught physical education at Middleton and McFarland School Districts while also staying active in her sports.
