Gary Trachsler is a 1973 graduate of Sauk Prairie High School. At MATC, Gary participated in baseball and basketball and because of his leadership ability, he captained both teams. He led the team in hitting in baseball and in assists in basketball. Gary was also honored by MATC in 1976 as the Board Sportsperson of the Year Award winner.
While Gary was playing ball in high school, he was limited to playing only a portion of each game due to a heart problem. The problem persisted while he attended MATC, but coach Redsten was advised by Gary, his parents, and his doctor that he could compete on a limited basis. When he competed, it was always 100%; he couldn't be held back. Gary underwent corrective open-heart surgery and made a fantastic recovery!
Gary and his wife, Cheryl, enjoy the outdoors a great deal. Gary was very active in sports of all kinds.
