Hall of Fame
Donald Fass represents the successful MATC Cross Country program. The Madison West graduate, who was his high school MVP in 1971, came to MATC where he became the #2 runner on one of MATC's best cross country teams ever.
MATC was just the starting point for Fass, who really came into his own as a runner while competing at UW-Oshkosh. Don finished fourth in the nation in the N.A.I.A. Marathon Race. He was captain of the 1976 cross country team and ran in two national meets. He was the UW-Oshkosh record holder for the 5 mile cross country race in 24 minutes and 47 seconds. He placed 183rd in the 1981 Boston Marathon, and went on to place 15th in cycling in the World Police and Fire Games in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Don has served as President and Vice-President of the UW-Oshkosh Letterman's Club. He was the head track coach at Oshkosh West, and served as an assistant coach in both track and cross country at UW-Oshkosh.
He and his wife Shirley reside in Fort Atkinson. Don still stays in great condition as he enjoys skiing, biking, camping, fishing, hunting, and backpacking. Don has been a Madison Firefighter for several years.
