Doug Neumann came to MATC unheralded and through hard work and dedication developed into an All-Conference choice his second season at MATC in 1982-83. That year he led his Trojan team to the WJCAA State title and second place finish in the NJCAA Region XIII Tournament.
Doug played football, basketball and baseball all four years in high school at Northwestern Prep in Watertown. He was an honorable mention All-Conference choice in basketball and football his senior year. He came to MATC in 1981 and played a reserve guard role his first year. He still managed to shoot 58% from the field and 61% from the line. But then came the 1982-83 campaign for Doug when he scored 430 points, shooting 54% form the field and 63% from the line. His hard work paid off as he was named All-Conference, a WJCAA All-Star and team captain. That year he was also named Sportsperson of the Year. Doug went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts degree from Buena Vista College where he started and lettered in both cross country and basketball.
He has been the Head Coach of the Women’s Tennis and Softball teams as well as the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Marian College in Fond du Lac. His 1995 Tennis team qualified for the NAIA National Tournament. He also served as the Men’s Assistant Basketball Coach at Carroll College. Doug also runs his own “Doug Neumann Basketball Camp” in the summers.
