While at MATC she continued to excel in three sports for two years. She participated in volleyball where she was a forceful hitter and was selected WTCC All-Conference and named a team Co-Captain. In basketball, Sally Jo was a tenacious rebounder at both ends of the court. She was selected the team captain both years and named to the WTCC All-Tournament Team. Sally Jo was a teammate of Ellen Becker whose team compiled a 33-1, two-year record. She was named captain of the softball team in the spring of 1978 and became the first woman to receive the MATC highest athletic honor as she was chosen as the District Board Sportsperson of the Year.
