Steve Hauser has named assistant coaches
Lindsey Swansby,
Emily DesJarlais, and
Sydney Toon as co-head coaches for the remainder of the season.
"We are extremely grateful for the commitment and energy JT put into our volleyball program while he was here and wish him the best of luck with his future endeavors," said Hauser. "I am pleased that Lindsey, Emily, and Sydney will be leading our volleyball program this season. I know they will provide the coaching, leadership, and mentorship that will allow our student-athletes to grow and develop as athletes and people."
Swansby and DesJarlais each completed their first season's as assistant coaches at the collegiate level after being hired by Thomas ahead of the 2018 season. Swansby entered the coaching ranks after a heralded playing career at NCAA Division III Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin. A four-time all-conference player, Swansby concluded her time with the Eagles as the all-time leader in assists in program and conference history. The Berlin, Wisconsin, native is currently in her fifth year as an elementary school teach in Madison. DesJarlais has spent three years coaching club volleyball in the Madison area with Keva Volleyball Club and Wisconsin Select Volleyball Club, which also has Swansby on its list of coaches. A native of Cuba City, Wisconsin, she currently works as an accountant in Madison. Toon was hired in July and is entering her first season as a collegiate coach after spending the past few seasons as an assistant at her alma mater, Middleton High School. She played two years varsity volleyball at UW-Whitewater.
Thomas led the WolfPack to a 16-12 record in his first and only season as the head coach. His team was led by NJCAA First Team All-American
Paige Hostetler and three other sophomores who all received postseason accolades. Prior to Madison College, Thomas had been an assistant at Edgewood College for two seasons, worked for four year on the club circuit, and served as the Madison La Follette head boy's volleyball coach from 2009-2012.
The WolfPack begin the 2019 season on Thursday, August 22 with a home match against Elgin Community College at
H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
