There's no doubt who owns the best North Central Community College Conference (N4C) women's volleyball team. Thursday evening, Madison College finished off an undefeated conference season, besting Harper College in three sets.
The WolfPack looked sharp right from the jump, as everything sophomore
Elizabeth Mahsem touched seem to go for a point. Mahsem, who finished with 15 kills, would help the team win set one 25-14.
"We're essentially running a three middle offense," said head coach
Toby Parker. "She's having an exceptional year, and that's not gonna change, but she's got a lot of help."
The help that coach Parker was alluding to came in the form of
Hannah Grahn and
Terissa Bierd Thursday. Grahn dished out 33 assists and Bierd tallied four service aces, as Madison College collected sets two and three by scores of 25-20 and 25-18.
Defensively, the team was led by
Mikayla Nigl's three blocks and
Vanessa Clarson's 23 digs.
While playing for a perfect conference record was enough of a motivating factor for the match, Bierd noted postgame that playing in front of their biggest crowd of the season on Youth Volleyball Night was fun. "It pumps us up that everyone comes out and watches us play and all. It's nice to have little kids that look up to us."
The WolfPack (26-3, 12-0) has now won thirteen straight matches and has just three remaining prior to the start of postseason play. The team will host UW-Whitewater JV Monday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m.
