CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - Friday's 3-0 loss at the hands of Pensacola State College in the consolation third round of the
2025 NJCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championships closed out a historic and record-setting season for Madison College, who re-established itself as a program that can and will compete at the national level. The #11-seeded WolfPack dropped a 25-21, 25-22, 25-16 match to the #12-seeded Pirates to finish the season 34-6, marking their most wins in a season since 2013 and tying for the third most wins in a season in program history. It was the program's fifth national tournament appearance and first at the Division II level.
Madison College held the upper hand early in the first set, leading by as much as three. The set was tied at 19-19 when Pensacola State College (28-11) strung together a 6-2 closing stretch that included four errors by the WolfPack.
The Pirates then used a 6-1 surge midway through the second set to take a 12-7 lead until a
Makayla Dallas kill sparked a 6-2 run in favor of Madison to make it 14-13. Another 6-1 push later in the set, highlighted by back-to-back kills from Dallas, put the WolfPack on top 19-17. They still held a two-point edge at 22-20 when consecutive attack errors from Dallas and
Ella Vosberg tied the score, and PSC pounced with three more points to take a two-sets-to-none lead.
With their season on the line, the WolfPack continued to battle throughout the third set; however, Pensacola won six of seven points midway through to build a 14-8 advantage. Despite their best efforts, Madison College was unable to get closer than five points until PSC finished the match with five consecutive points.
The WolfPack tallied 35 kills and a .117 attack percentage, compared to 40 kills and a .228 efficiency for the Pirates. Madison also added four aces, two blocks, and 55 digs.
Dallas led the offense with nine kills, and the Valders, Wisconsin, native, also came up with ten digs.
Fellow freshmen Vosberg and
Sam Schultz each had eight kills. Schultz, a native of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, served up a team-leading three aces and tracked down ten digs. Vosberg, an outside hitter from Cuba City, Wisconsin, finishes the season with a single-season program record 464 kills after breaking the record in the prior match. It is the third single-season record set in 2025, with sophomore
Cora Webster coming up three aces shy of another one.
Allie Andrews, a first year setter and right side hitter from Darlington, Wisconsin, had 29 assists to reach 1,180 for the season, while Milton, Wisconsin, native and libero
Avery Agnew finished with 676 digs after leading the team with 12 against PSC.
