Three days after losing at home to Rock Valley College, the Madison College women's volleyball team picked themselves up and got back to work. They did so by taking all three sets from Joliet Junior College 25-16, 25-22, 25-20.
The WolfPack (20-7, 9-2) got a huge effort defensively in the match from the entire team. All eight women that played in the match had at least two digs and half of those players reached double digits. The team combined for 63 digs against the Wolves one match after mustering just 25 against a high-powered Rock Valley offensive attack.
Ashley Biesterveld led the team with 17 digs, followed by
Ali Waller who compiled 14. Second-year players and co-captains
Skye Kapinus and
Kelsey Zimmerman each contributed with 12 and 11 respectively.
Offensively, the team was led by
Biesterveld and her 13 kills. The first-year outside hitter continued to play well for the WolfPack, leading the team in kills (240) and digs (173).
The two setters put in equally impressive performances with
Leah Monti getting 17 assists and
Kirsten Halma putting up 16.
The WolfPack will get out their pink uniforms for Oct. 18 in their annual Dig Pink match in the Redsten Gymnasium at 6 p.m. This year the WolfPack will host the Carthage College JV squad which competes at the NCAA Division III level. All proceeds from the match will benefit the Side-out Foundation and help fight breast cancer.
