Madison College's Gibis inducted into Region 4 Hall of Fame Class of 2026

Former NJCAA All-American helped WolfPack to back-to-back world series appearances

The NJCAA Region 4 Hall of Fame announced its Class of 2026 Inductees and it includes one former Madison College student-athlete. Former WolfPack baseball All-American Brandon Gibis represents Madison College as part of the seven-member enshrinement class. Gibis becomes the 18th Madison College inductee in the hall of fame, including 15 student-athletes and three national championship teams.

"Brandon was a worker in all aspects of being a student-athlete, and the amount of time I know he spent working extra at the plate and in the field really showed," stated Madison College Head Baseball Coach Mike Davenport. "He demonstrated as much growth from one-year to the next as anyone I've coached at Madison College. Brandon was also extremely selfless and willing to do whatever the team needed, which is evident with the amount of positions he played in field over two years. In a program that values selflessness, Brandon was the epitome of that characteristic."

From the moment he stepped on campus in 2014, Gibis began making an impact for the WolfPack. The Wauconda, Illinois, native, was second on the team with a .347 batting average, 59 hits, 49 runs scored, and 14 stolen bases. He also added 20 runs batted in, as well as gave Madison College some time on the mound as he appeared in six games and went 1-0 with a 3.00 earned run average. Gibis and the WolfPack went 45-17 that spring, earning North Central Community College and Region 4 championships on their path to a third place finish at the NJCAA Division II World Series.

As a sophomore in 2015, Gibis kept right on producing as he paced the Pack in several offensive categories, including a .452 batting average, 84 hits, 60 runs scored, and 14 stolen bases. Those numbers proved to be historic, with Gibis ranking second in program history for hits in a single season, fifth in batting average, and sixth in runs scored. He also added 30 runs batted in, as well as a 1-0 pitching record with a 0.00 ERA over seven appearances. Madison College against claimed N4C and Region 4 crowns, and reached the NJCAA Division II World Series for a record-setting sixth consecutive time. Their eighth place finish in Enid, Oklahoma, capped a 42-12 campaign. Gibis was rewarded for his outstanding play, earning Third Team NJCAA All-American, First Team All-Region 4, and First Team All-N4C.

For his career, Gibis helped the WolfPack to an 87-29 record, four championships, and back-to-back national tournament appearances. He ranks second in school history with 143 career hits, fourth in runs scored with 109, and ninth in career batting average at .402. Gibis was also no slouch in the classroom, earning NJCAA All-Academic recognition and was a two-time N4C Academic All-Conference recipient. Following the 2014-15 academic year, Gibis took home two of the top honors within the Athletic Department as he was named the Madison College District Board Male Sportsperson of the Year and Madison College Top Male Scholar Athlete.

Gibis left Madison College after two highly-successful years and played two more years of collegiate baseball at NCAA Division I University of Illinois-Chicago.

"Brandon was a phenomenal athlete, but even a better person," said Madison College Director of Athletics Jason Verhelst. "So proud of him and glad he is representing the WolfPack in the Region 4 Hall of Fame."
