Madison College places five players, one team in Region IV Hall of Fame

Class of 2017 inductees part of first eligible class

The NJCAA Region IV Hall of Fame announced its Class of 2017 Inductees and it includes a healthy contingent representing Madison College. Former players to be inducted are Ashley BiesterveldĀ (volleyball), Gabi Hungerford (women's basketball), Tyler Jones (baseball), Thiemoko Kone (men's soccer), and Andrew Steinhofer (men's golf), while the 2009-10 national championship women's basketball team will also be enshrined. This group also marks the first ever entries for Madison College into the Region IV Hall of Fame after joining the region in 2009-10.

Ashley BiesterveldĀ played just one season for the WolfPack, but her 2010 campaign was one for the record books. The Little Chute, Wisconsin, native racked up 295 kills for a 3.14 kills per set average, posted 49 service aces, 217 digs, and 23 total blocks. Biesterveld was named first team all-conference, all-region, and All-AmericanĀ after helping the WolfPack to a 25-8 record and a second place finish in the region tournament.

Gabi HungerfordĀ was a key cog in the 2009-10 women's basketball team that won the program's first and only national championship. A native of Wild Rose, Wisconsin, Hungerford averaged 15.1 points, 3.1 assists, and 1.6 blocks in helping the WolfPack to a 31-3 record that included conference, region, and national championships. For her efforts, Hungerford garnered all-conference, all-region, and third team All-American honors, while also being named the Region IV Tournament NJCAA Division III Tournament MVP.

Tyler Jones had a first team All-American season in 2010 and led the WolfPack baseball team to its first of six consecutive NJCAA Division IIĀ World Series appearances after claiming the Region IV title. Jones, a former Milwaukee Marquette HS athlete, posted a 9-2 record with seven complete game efforts, and finished with a 3.01 ERA and 77 strikeouts as he picked up all-conference and all-region accolades during a 44-15 season.

ThiemokoĀ Kone joined the WolfPack men's soccer team from Dakar, Senegal, all led the 2009 club to a 9-7-1 season. Kone scored 17 goals and 41 total points during a season that ended with first team all-conference, all-region, and All-American honors.

Andrew SteinhoferĀ enjoyed one of - if not the - best season's on a golf course in Madison College history in 2009-10. The Madison La Follette alum received all-conference, all-region, and All-American recognition on his path to finishing as the individual runner-up at the NJCAA Division III National Golf Tournament. He finished with a 74.0 season scoring average, which remains the standard for WolfPack golf to this day.

The 2009-10 women's basketball team became the second program in Madison College history to win a national championship, doing so with a 31-3 record. Coach by Jessica Pelzel, the team was lead by All-American Gabi Hungerford, as well as ThresiaĀ ElskampĀ and Morgan Lass. The WolfPack defeated rival Milwaukee Area Technical College to claim the Region IV title, before rolling through three opponents at the national tournament, including Onondaga (NY) Community College 74-55 in the championship game.
