The 2024-25 athletic calendar has certainly been the Year of the Big Dog, as Madison College Athletics has celebrated and recognized
Gary "Big Dog" Breneman's milestone achievement of working 50 years at Madison College. The third and final celebration is set for Saturday, April 19, ahead of a baseball doubleheader at Robin Roberts Field, as well as a softball triangular at Robert D. Goodman Softball Field. The highlights of the day will include a tailgate party outside of Robin Roberts Field, a ceremonial first pitch, and the unveiling of a brand new, one-of-a-kind scoreboard.
The tailgate party will run from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on the grass just north of Robin Roberts Field and will feature typical Wisconsin-style tailgate fare with brats and hot dogs, chips, and water. The Madison Mallards, who inducted Big Dog into their Wall of Honor in 2016, graciously donated brats, hot dogs, and buns for the event. A special presentation and recognition of Big Dog will take place at 11:15 a.m., followed by an 11:50 a.m. ceremonial first pitch and a scoreboard unveiling. Fans attending the tailgate will also have an opportunity to contribute to theÂ

Additionally, the MATC Choral Collective will perform the national anthem prior to WolfPack softball's opening game against McHenry County College and baseball's doubleheader opener against Triton College at noon. They will also sing a song or two at the tailgate.
Big Dog supporters, fans, and friends can also submit messages of congratulations and memories via theÂ
