Madison College's
Michael Carpenter put together a sophomore season unlike many in a WolfPack uniform have ever seen, and as a result, the pitcher was named
First Team NJCAA All-American on Monday. Carpenter becomes the 26th baseball player to earn All-American honors for Madison College, and the first baseball player to earn first team recognition since 2019.
Carpenter led all NJCAA Division II pitchers with a 1.03 earned run average and broke the program's single-season record for strikeouts with 111. The Hartland, Wisconsin, native, allowed just nine earned runs over 78.1 innings of work and posted a 10-2 record with seven complete games and one save.
Carpenter, who walked 11 total batters over 14 appearances, strung together an impressive streak of 45 consecutive innings without allowing a run over the span of eight games between March 24 and May 10. The lefthander registered four games with ten or more strikeouts, topped by a 13 K effort on April 20 against Triton College that earned him
NJCAA Division II Pitcher of the Week recognition. In addition to the strikeout record, Carpenter's 2024 season tied for second in wins, second in innings pitched, and third in ERA for Madison College. He will depart the WolfPack ranking second in career wins (14-5), second in career strikeouts (170), third in career innings pitched (140.1), and 19th in all-time earned run average (2.44).
