ENID, OKLA. - One day after a heartbreaking loss in the quarterfinals, Madison College was eliminated Wednesday from the 2026 NJCAA Division II World Series with a 15-6 setback to Iowa Central Community College at David Allen Memorial Ballpark. The #-seeded WolfPack was unable to rally from an early #7-seeded Tritons 10-0 deficit as they fell to the #7-seeded Tritons for the second straight year in a quarterfinal elimination game, resulting in the program's third consecutive fifth place finish and fifth in the last eight years. Madison College ends the season with a 46-12 record.
The Iowa Central Community College (53-11) bats were red hot to start as they produced five hits and four runs in the first inning, chasing sophomore starter
Adison Tevz after he recorded just one out. The Tritons kept the momentum going in the second with four more runs on five more hits, including a two-run home run, against second year arm
Landon Dessart. The differential grew to 10-0 in the third as ICCC tacked on two more runs with two hits and two hit batters allowed by sophomore
Carter Lund.
Madison College got on the scoreboard in the bottom half of the third, which saw second baseman
JJ Wolbert lead off with a single and
Jonah Roloff reach on a hit by pitch. Sophomore rightfielder
Quinn Falish came through with a two-out single to right to score Wolbert, and second year third baseman
Ian Salvesen followed with a run-scoring single of his own to make it a 10-2 differential.
The Tritons hit another home run to begin the fourth frame for a nine-run advantage before regaining a ten-run lead in the fifth on a fielder's choice that drove in a run.
The WolfPack avoided an early run-rule by plating three runs in the bottom of the fifth. With
Nate Novinska and Falish aboard, Salvesen singled to score Novinska. A balk brought Falish in to score and a wild pitch on the next offering allowed Salvesen to cross home, pulling the Pack within seven.
It remained 12-5 until the eighth when Iowa Central took advantage of three walks and a hit to score three runs for a 15-5 lead. The WolfPack was able to generate one more run in the home half as pinch hitter
Paul Nuetzel grounded out to second to score
Sam Moses; however, it was not enough to avoid the run-rule decision in eight innings.
Salvesen, a former Wittenberg-Birnamwood HS athlete, led the offense with a 3 for 4 effort that yielded two runs batted in and a run scored.
Falish, a native of De Pere, Wisconsin, racked up a pair of hits with a run scored and one driven in. Moses and Wolbert each had a hit and scored a run.
The WolfPack went through six arms in the game, with Tevz (4-3) taking the loss. Collectively, the group allowed 15 runs on 19 hits with eight free passes and six strikeouts. Freshman
Casey Wambach was the lone pitcher to not allow a run, working 2.2 innings with three hits and three K's.
