After Monday's par-filled 18 holes, Schmiesing did not record a single par over the first six holes as he opened play on the back nine. A birdie on the par 5 10th was followed by back-to-back bogeys, however, a second birdie on a par 5 on No. 13 put him back at even. A bogey on the next hole was answered with yet another made birdie put on the par 3 15th. He finished par-bogey-par over the final three to make the turn at one over.

The par on 18 ignited a run of five consecutive as he made the move to the front nine, which he would record three-more bogeys on to post another 9-hole total of 38. The Fitchburg, Wisconsin, native finished the day with three birdies, eight pars, and seven bogeys. He owns the eighth-best score among individual qualifiers. Schmiesing remains 15 shots behind the co-leaders of Nick Johnson from Georgia Military College and Alex Martin of Sandhills Community College. Sandhills improved their team lead with an impressive 284 team score and own a 576-594 edge over GMC. Region 4 champ College of DuPage is holding steady in fifth after a 315 gave them a 638 team total.
