WolfPack closes fall schedule at Whistling Straits

10th place finish highlighted by top-ten placement for Haggart

KOHLER, WISC. - The Madison College golf team capped the fall portion of their 2025-26 schedule with two rounds at one of premier golf course in the world as they placed tenth at the 12-team Kohler Collegiate Classic. The WolfPack placed tenth in the 12-team event at Whistling Straits that featured two junior college programs, along with mostly NAIA programs and one NCAA Division II team. Sophomore Matthew Haggart was the Pack's top individual finisher for the fourth time in five events with his second consecutive top-ten.

Madison College opened the 36-hole tournament with a 339 and sat in ninth place, trailing St. Ambrose University by three shots. A 344 team score over the final 18 holes dropped the WolfPack to tenth place with a 683. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College leapfrogged the Pack by three strokes with a 680. Taylor University (IN) claimed the team title with a 608 team score.

Haggart, a native of Minocqua, Wisconsin, continued his impressive play of late, taking eighth place with a ten-over-par 154 total. The second year player opened with a plus-seven 79 that included three birdies and seven pars. He followed it up with a three-over 75 that began with an even par front nine and closed with a total of 13 pars and one par. Haggart was five shots back of medalist Kaeden Anderson from the University of Pikeville (KY) at 149 (+5). 

Freshman Micah Lenway shot a 175 (+31) to finish 51st after rounds of 86 and 89 for the Faribault, Minnesota, native. Fellow first year Gavin Davidson, a former River Valley HS athlete, tied for 54th at 177 (+33) with scores of 92 and 85. Jacob Schmeltzer, a freshman from Merrill, Wisconsin, was the fourth score with a 188 (+44) as he shot 93 and 95. 



First year player Kellan Jacobson carded a ten-over-par 82 in Round 1 with one par and eight pars to sit tied for 23rd overall; however, he was forced to withdraw during the second round.

Madison College will resume the 2025-26 season with a spring slate of events. That schedule will be released in the coming weeks and will culminate in the three-day Region 4 Tournament at PrairieView Golf Club in Byron, Illinois, on April 26-28. Qualifiers will advance to the 2026 NJCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana, from May 19-22.
