WHEATON, ILL. - In their final event of the 2022-23 regular season, the Madison College golf team regained their momentum towards the postseason with a second place finish at the College of DuPage Spring Invitational at
Cantigny Golf Club on Wednesday. Led by freshman
Braeden Skifton, the WolfPack placed five players in the top ten en route to a team score of 324.
Bryant & Stratton College, who will compete at the NJCAA Division II Championships later this month, took the team title with a 315. The Pack finished two shots ahead of Chaparrals on their home track, as well as Rock Valley College in fourth with a 347.
Skifton, a Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, native who joined the team at semester, carded a six-over-par 78 to tie for third place overall. He has been the WolfPack's top finisher in the final three events of the regular season. Trey Fullmer of BSC was the medalist with a two-under 70.
Madison also counted a trio of 82's after playing the Hillside and Lakeside nines. Freshmen
Brady Callmer,
Brent Schmiesing, and
Ethan Thomas all tied for tenth place individual with their rounds of ten-over. First year player
Tyler Koch posted an 84 (+12) as the fifth score and tied for 13th.
Playing as an individual, sophomore
Jake Rebholz signed off on his best round of the spring. The native of Verona, Wisconsin, was part of a two-way tie for seventh with an eight-over-par 80.
Matt Sitte also played as an individual and turned in an 18-hole total of 85 (+13) to place 15th.

Madison College, along with the College of DuPage and Rock Valley College, will compete in the two-day, 36-hole Region 4 Division III Tournament on May 14-15 at
PrairieView Golf Club in Byron, Illinois. The WolfPack, who won the Highland Spring Golf Invitational on April 21, has twice defeated the Golden Eagles and been better than the Chaparrals once over the past two weeks. Both teams also finished ahead of the Pack at the BSC Legends Classic. DuPage is the three-time defending region champions, with Madison having not won since the 2018-19 season. Tee times for Round 1 on Sunday, May 14 will start at 1:00 p.m., with Round 2 on Monday to get underway at 9:00 a.m.
