BSC Legends Classic roughs up WolfPack

Madison College places eighth one week after first tournament win

SHEBOYGAN FALLS & SAUKVILLE, WISC. - A week after claiming the program's first win in a stroke play tournament with more than three teams during head coach Glenn Eichstedt's stint, the Madison College golf team found play to be a bit more challenging at the BSC Legends Classic. Hosted by Bryant & Stratton College at The Bull at Pinehurst Farms and The Bog on Thursday and Friday, the WolfPack finished eighth in the nine-team field with a two-day total of 696 over 36 holes.

Day one at the The Bull saw the Pack post their worst 18-hole team score a 356 at the IVCC Challenge on March 29, 2022, shooting a 355 to sit in seventh place. A change in location for Round Two did improve the overall scoring, as Madison combined for a 341, however, it was not enough to even hang on to the seventh spot and they finished ninth by seven shots behind Carroll University. The WolfPack were the lowest placed junior college team. Alexandria Tech took home the team title in a playoff over the host Bobcats after both shot 622.

Freshman Braeden Skifton earned the top individual place for Madison, shooting a two-day total of 168 to finish tied for 24th. The Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, native, who took second at the previous event, opened with a 88 (+16) before carding an eight-over-par 80. He tallied five birdies and 11 pars in total and finished 21 shots back of BSC's Trey Fullmer at three-over 147 to win by a single stroke.

Fellow first year Brent Schmiesing went back-to-back with round of 86 to reach 172 (+28) and sit alone in 29th place. The native of Fitchburg, Wisconsin, registered one birdie and four pars. Ethan Thomas's 93 (+21) on Thursday was the lone score not counted by the WolfPack, however, he rebounded to shoot 12-over-par 84 and tie for 31st with 177. Matt Sitte recorded a 89 (+17) on Thursday and a 91 (+19) on Friday to sign off on a 180 (+36) that tied him for 39th.

Brady Callmer withdrew from the tournament due to injury after Round 1, where he shot a 92 (+20).

Tyler Koch matched Thomas shot-for-shot to go 93 (+21) and 84 (+12) and also tie for 37th playing as an individual. Jake Rebholz also played as an individual and was 49th overall with a 197 (+53) after rounds of 103 (+31) and 94 (+22).
