VERNON HILLS, ILL. - The Madison College golf team took advantage of some great weather conditions Friday to shoot their best team score of the Spring 2023 season, and their third-best team total of the entire 2022-23 campaign with a 320 at the Forester Spring Invite at
White Deer Run Golf Club. The WolfPack placed ninth overall out of 19 teams, and had the lowest score of the three competing two-year programs.
Freshman
Brady Callmer matched a career-best with a four-over-par 76 and was tied for 20th overall. The Edgerton, Wisconsin, native, who had posted a 76 at the Region 4 Preview last fall, now boasts three top-20 results in events featuring more than four teams.
Madison also counted an eight-over 80 from first year player
Brent Schmiesing en route to a tie for 45th overall.
Matt Sitte tied for 51st with an 81 (+9) and
Ethan Thomas was 11-over with an 83 to sit tied for 59th.
Tyler Koch posted an 87 (+15) and was not counted towards the team score.
Sophomore
Jake Rebholz, a native of Verona, Wisconsin, played as an individual and match Sitte with a plus-nine 81 to tie for 51st place. It's his best score this spring and his second-best of the season.
Aurora University won the team title with a 291, and was one of three teams to shoot better than 300. The other two-year programs included Rock Valley College with a 331 to place 14th and Kishwaukee College at 382 to sit 19th overall. The tournament medalist was William Davis of Elmhurst University with a two-under par 70. Former WolfPack golfer Ryan Beck shot an 82 for fifth place Edgewood College.

The Freeport Club in Freeport, Illinois. The WolfPack have never played in the event. The shotgun start begins at noon.
