Following a run of four Region 4 Division III championships over six years in, the Madison College women's soccer team will take its first steps towards trying to add another banner on Sunday, October 29 when they host Morton College in the
2023 NJCAA Region 4 Division II Tournament. The WolfPack were awarded the tournament's #4 seed following an 8-3-3 season, and will take the pitch for a noon quarterfinal against the #5-seeded Panthers, with a record of 6-6-1. The winner of the first-ever meeting between the two programs will advance to the semifinal round on November 1.
Madison College snapped a four-match non-losing streak with a 2-1 win in the regular season finale at the College of DuPage. They are led statistically by sophomore
Kierstin McHugh after the Madison, Wisconsin, native posted a team-best seven goals, seven assists, and 21 total points in 2023. Freshmen forwardsÂ
Delaney Bracken and
Atziry Ocampo have added 11Â goals and six assists. The WolfPack are averaging 2.92 goals per game.
Defensively, the Pack is holding teams to 1.23 goals per game thanks to a stout defense and strong goalkeeper play by sophomore
Morgan Thompson. The native of New Glarus, Wisconsin, has racked up 58 saves and four clean sheets this fall.
Morton College has tallied 3.00 goals per game, with a 2.44 goals against average.
Sunday's winner will play the winner of a quarterfinal match between #1-seed Rock Valley College (13-2-3) and #8-seed Moraine Valley Community College (7-3-2). The semifinal will be at 2:30 p.m. on November 1 at the site of the higher seed. The WolfPack lost to RVC on September 5, and earned a 0-0 draw on October 8 against MVCC. Madison College owns a 1-2-2 mark against the remaining field in the tournament. The tournament champion earns the NJCAA Midwest District automatic bid to the
