COTTAGE GROVE, WISC. - In a change from the traditional stroke-play format, the Madison College golf team hosted the Texas Roadhouse Madison College Invitational on Friday at
Door Creek Golf Course and utilized a Modified Stableford Scoring System to award points to partners based on their stroke play score for each hole. Players competed in pairs, with teams also competing with combined totals of two or three teams. The Madison College Navy team finished fourth with 78 points, while Madison College Grey was sixth at 74 points.
The tandem of first year players
Tyler Koch and
Ethan Thomas generated 42 total points over their 18 holes, joining a five-way tie for third place overall. UW Club golfers Austin Thyes and Matt Dorn sat atop the leaderboard with 46 points. Fellow freshman
Brent Schmiesing and
Matt Sitte joined Koch and Thomas on Team Navy and posted 36 points to tie for 11th.
Madison College Grey was led by the duo of
Andrew Aune and
Brady Callmer with 38 points, followed by 36 points from sophomores
Jake Rebholz and
Matt Paulson. Aune and Callmer were ninth overall, while Rebholz and Paulson tied for 11th.
The UW Club White team of Austin Thyes/Matt Dorn and Connor Larson/John King were the team champions with 88 points.

Madison College was scheduled to play Round 1 of the Skyhawk Invite at
PrairieView Golf Club in Byron, Illinois, on Monday, September 12, however, weekend rains and more forecasted forced the the event organizers to cancel it. The WolfPack will next compete at the two-day Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Invitational on Sunday, September 18 and Monday, September 19. The 36-hole event hosted by UW-Eau Claire will be played at
Eau Claire Golf & Country Club in Altoona, Wisconsin. Tee times start at noon and 9:00 a.m. on Rounds 1 and 2, respectively.
