WolfPack finish fall season with 2nd place finish at College of DuPage Invitational

Freshmen Callmer, Sitte lead with third place finishes

WHEATON, ILL. - The final golf event of the Fall 2022 schedule pitted the three teams who will make up the entire field in next spring's Region 4 Tournament, and after the rain cleared and the last putts dropped, the host Chaparrals had bested Madison College at the College of DuPage Invitational at Cantigny Golf Club. The WolfPack had six players finish in the Top-12, led by freshmen Brady Callmer and Matt Sitte in a tie for third place. Play was halted during the second nine due to rain and lightning, however, all players were able to return to the course and complete their rounds.

Playing the Woodside and Hillside courses, Madison College came in with a final tally of 327. College of DuPage edged with WolfPack with a 320 total to earn the team title, while Rock Valley College was third with a 332.

Callmer, a native of Edgerton, Wisconsin, led the primary WolfPack five with an eight-over 80, highlighted by a 39 on the Woodside to start his round. He finished tied for third overall, five shots back of DuPage's Sam Sager at three-over 75 to claim medalist honor.

Sophomore Matt Paulson was right behind with a plus-nine 81 after going 42-39 to place sixth. Madison College also counted a pair of 83s from Andrew Aune and Ethan Thomas. Aune overcame a front-nine score of 46 to post a 37 on the Hillside course. The fifth score was an 84 (+12) from Tyler Koch that earned the transfer freshman a tie for 13th.

Three additional WolfPack players competed as individuals, one of which was Sitte, a Wausau, Wisconsin, native. Sitte matched Callmer with an eight-over 80 to tied for third overall, marking his best finish in a tournament this season. His round included a tournament best nine-hole score of 35 on the Hillside nine.

Second year Jake Rebholz was part of a three-way tie for seventh with a plus-ten 82, and Brent Schmiesing's 88 (+16) earned him a 16th place finish.
