WolfPack women's soccer announcing seven-member incoming class

Departure of program's all-time greats leaves opportunity for newest group

The Madison College women's soccer team hopes to continue its recent wave of success after back-to-back championship seasons, and head coach Matt Schwartz believes a seven-member incoming Class of 2019 announced Friday can keep the momentum going. The group includes Claire Arbuckle (Rhinelander, WI), Mackenzie Bielecki (Findlay, OH), Veronica Cruz (Madison, WI), Jenna Kirschbaum (Beaver Dam, WI), Sydney Martin (Sun Prairie, WI), Haylee Miles (Fort Atkinson, WI), Emma Strieker (Janesville, WI), and Lydia Webster (DeForest, WI).

Claire Arbuckle was a two-year varsity player for Rhinelander High School, helping the Hodags to a 21-12 record during her time. Arbuckle's teams finished runner-up in the Great Northern Conference and fell one win shy of qualifying for state at the end of her junior season.

"Claire is tall and athletic, she will be a great addition to our 2019 team and I'm really looking forward to seeing her on the field."

Mackenzie Bielecki is a 5'5" defender who helped the Findlay Trojans to an 8-7-3 record as a senior.

"Mackenzie is a really strong defensive player that we are looking forward to seeing how she comes into camp and competes this fall."

Veronica Cruz is a former goalkeeper for Madison Memorial High School and helped the Spartans to Big Eight Conference title in 2019 with a 7-1-1 league record.

"We are really looking forward to seeing Veronica join our roster this fall, she is able to bring her passion and motivation to the WolfPack that will be a great mix with her talent on the field."

Jenna Kirschbaum was a centerback for Beaver Dam High School. The Beavers went 1-14 during her one season on varsity.

"Jenna is a hard working defender that is able to play in the middle or outside. I am very excited to have her join us this fall and add to our defensive strength."

Sydney Martin primarily played goalkeeper for the Sun Prairie Cardinals, earning honorable mention all-conference in the Big Eight Conference as a junior. She suffered a season-ending injury during her senior season and will redshirt her first year with the WolfPack. Martin also played for Rush Wisconsin.

"Sydney is a really talented player that can play anywhere one the field. She has a great attitude and will be a huge addition to our 2019 squad."

Haylee Miles was a multi-sport athlete at Fort Atkinson High School. The 5'2" midfielder played three years of varsity soccer for the Blackhawks.

"Haylee has a ton of speed and will help us create dangerous opportunities behind opposing back lines. I am excited to see the energy and competitive attitude she brings out on the field for the WolfPack in 2019."

Emma Strieker was a four-year varsity contributor at Janesville Parker High School, earning honorable mention all-conference as a midfielder in the Big Eight Conference as a junior in 2016. During her senior season with the Vikings, she tallied three goals and five assists. Strieker is also a member of Rock SC.

"Emma is going to add a different look to our midfield coming into the 2019 season. She can play outside or in the middle and will help add some depth to this group of strong midfielders we have coming back."

Lydia Webster played three years of varsity soccer for the DeForest Lady Norskies as a midfielder. She also played club soccer for Rush Wisconsin.

"Lydia is a hardworking and passionate player that we are very excited to see her energy added to the team this fall."
