WolfPack reels in Muskies to end three-match losing skid

Win sends Madison College into Pink Night match Tuesday against MATC-Milwaukee

PLYMOUTH, WISC. - A three-game losing streak ended Monday when the Madison College women's volleyball team rallied from a one-set deficit to beat the NCAA Division III Lakeland University JV by a 3-1 final. The WolfPack dropped the first set in extra points by a 27-29 final, but rebounded to take the next three sets by scores of 25-17, 25-20, and 25-18 to improve to 7-0 all-time against the Muskies. One of those wins came in a 3-0 sweep on September 23 in Madison.

Madison College posted double-digit kills in three of the four sets and hit at a .158 efficiency. For the match, the 'Pack tallied 42 kills on 37 assists, ten aces, eight blocks, and 73 digs. It's the third match this season in which the WolfPack has generated ten aces - with another being the previous meeting against Lakeland - and the fourth match in which they registered 40 or more kills.

Two players led the offense with double-figure kills, as sophomore outside hitters Samantha Kessenich and Cathleen Flannery went for 13 and 12 kills, respectively. Kessenich, a transfer from NAIA Clarke University, had a .222 attack percentage en route to her second straight match with a season-high baker's dozen. Flannery was tops on the team with a .233 hitting percentage to earn her fourth double-digit kills performance. The transfer from NCAA Division III Alverno College also picked up her first career double-double with 12 digs to match her kills output.

Freshman Skyler Salter was tops among setters with 20 assists, giving the Milton, Wisconsin, native ten or more assists in back-to-back contests and four times this season. Fellow first year Lena La Fleur picked up her 15th double-digit assist performance with 13 helpers.

Kessenich and Salter each led the team with three aces, one better than Flannery and sophomore Libby Ruhle.

Defensively, Calla Borchert was relentless above the net with career-high six blocks. The attacks the Muskies managed to get past the 6'0" freshman from Lake Mills, Wisconsin, were tracked down by the WolfPack's back row, which was led by first year libero Jaidyn Lange's career-best 20 digs, giving the Fall River, Wisconsin, product a third consecutive match with ten or more.
