JANESVILLE, WISC. - There were an abundance of low scores - both individual and team - during Friday and Saturday's Culver's Edgewood University Classic at Glen Erin Golf Club, where Madison College wound up 16th out 20 teams. The WolfPack were led by sophomore
Kaden Zinkle with a tie for 20th in the field of 112 golfers.
Madison College came through with a 310 team score following Round 1, and then improved by four strokes with a 306 over the final 18 holes to post a 616 (+48), the program's best score in the event since the 2023-24 season. In all, the field of teams combined to produce 26 rounds of 300 or better on the par 71 course, with NCAA Division III UW-Stout taking the team title with a nine-under-par 559.
Similarly, the tournament featured 26 individual rounds of even par or better over two days. One of those rounds of even par came from Zinkle, who signed off on a career-low 71 on Saturday to move into a tie for 20th overall. The native of DeForest, Wisconsin, used a birdie and 11 pars to shoot a five-over 76 on the opening 18, and followed with four birdies and 11 pars during a closing round that included a two-under-par 34 on the back nine to post a plus-five 147. UW-Stout featured the top four scores, with Andrew Bauer posting a minus-four 138 to claim medalist honors.
Kellan Jacobson, a second year player from Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, tied for 40th after shooting an eight-over-par 150. For the tournament, Jacobson racked up a dozen pars on both days, as well as an opening round birdie during a five-over 76 and final round eagle on Hole #8 en route to a three-over 74.
Sophomores
Jack Kammer and
Jacob Schmeltzer were within a stroke of each other with scores of 159 (+17) and 160 (+18), respectively. Kammer tied for 83rd overall with a birdie and 19 pars as he shot 81 (+10) and 78 (+7). Schmeltzer opened with a six-over 77 that featured a birdie and 12 pars, but dropped 32 spots on the leaderboard with an 83 (+12).
Freshman
Logan Cunningham made his collegiate debut, signing off on a two-day total of 169 (+27) after going 82-87 with a total of three birdies and 15 pars to finished 106th. Sophomore
Parker Morrow competed as an individual and placed 111th with a 185 (+43) following rounds of 89-96 with a birdie and nine pars.
