ROCKFORD, ILL. - Freshman
Kellan Jacobson putting together a very nice spring season in 2026 after he led the Madison College golf team for a third straight event and secured his second consecutive top-20 finish. The WolfPack placed tenth at the 36-hole Highland Spring Invitational at Forest Hills Country Club on Monday, with Jacobson sitting tied for 14th when the two rounds ended.
Madison College turned in team scores of 315 and 329 for a two-round total of 645, placing them one shot back of the host Cougars second team and nine shots ahead of Sauk Valley Community College. The 315 ties for the team's best round this spring and the third-best team score of the season after they signed off on the same score one round prior at TPC Deere Run. North Iowa Area Community College won the event with a 611 team total. The WolfPack was seventh of the ten Region 4 teams.
Jacobson amassed five birdies and 20 pars over his two rounds as he shot a four-over-par 76 and plus-five 77 for a 36-hole total of nine-over 153. He finished tied for 14th with four others and was ten strokes behind the individual medalist Matthew Halupka of Oakton College. Through four rounds this spring, the Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, native, owns a scoring average of 76.25.
Freshman
Kaden Zinkle followed his career-best round of 80 with two more rounds of eight-over-par 80 for a 160 (+16) total that earned a tie for 35th overall for the native of DeForest, Wisconsin. Zinkle's day included four birdies and 16 pars. One shot back was
Micah Lenway at 161 and tied for 38th. The first year player from Faribault, Minnesota, registered five birdies and 14 pars en route to rounds of ten-over 82 and plus-seven 79 for a total of 161 (+17).
Jacob Schmeltzer rounded out the scoring for the WolfPack with a 171 (+27) after shooting 88 (+16) and 83 (+11). He posted three birdies and 15 pars to secure a tie for 64th place.
Gavin Davidson withdrew from the tournament.

Madison College will compete in its final regular season event on Thursday, April 23 and Friday, April 24 with the BSC Legends Classic, hosted by Bryant & Stratton College. The WolfPack will play Round 1 at The Bull at Pinehurst Farms in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, before heading to The Bog in Saukville, Wisconsin, for Round 2.
