JANESVILLE, WISC. - The Madison College golf team completed its first tournament of the 2025-26 season with an 18th-place finish at the two-day Culver's Edgewood University Fall Invitational on Friday and Saturday at
Glen Erin Golf Club. The WolfPack improved by 23 strokes from Round 1 to Round 2 and moved up one spot on the leaderboard, while sophomore
Matthew Haggart used a career-best round of two-over-par 73 on Saturday to earn a tie for 30th overall.
Madison College opened the event with a team-total of 337 during a rain-soaked Friday and entered Round 2 in 19th place. The Pack posted a 314 to move ahead of Dominican University with a two-day tally of 651, five shots back of Marian University. The University of Dubuque won the tournament with a collective four-under-par 564. The 21-team field featured three junior college teams, with Bryant & Stratton College finishing 11th at 620, and Blackhawk Technical College sitting 21st at 721.
Haggart began the weekend with a seven-over 78 that included 13 pars. The native of Minocqua, Wisconsin, locked in for Saturday's final round and posted a career-low plus-two 73 that featured one birdie and 14 pars. Haggart's 27 total pars tied him for the most by anyone in the field. The two-day total of 151 (+9) put him in a six-way tie for 30th. John Dobbe of the University of Dubuque was the tournament medalist with a ten-under-par 132.
First year
Kellan Jacobson was next to count towards the team score with a 159 (+17) and a tie for 64th place. Jacobson opened with a plus-ten 81, and then shaved three shots off his total with a seven-over 78. In his collegiate debut, Jacobson collected 19 pars and four birdies.
Parker Morrow tied for 95th with a 169 (+27) after scores of 86 and 83, while
Jacob Schmeltzer showed one of the biggest individual turnarounds to eventually sit in 101st with a 172 (+30) after turning in rounds of 92 and 80. Sophomore
Brady Piazza withdrew midway through the opening round due to injury.
Three other players competed as individuals and represented the WolfPack.
Gavin Davidson, a freshman from Spring Green, Wisconsin, tied for 59th overall with a 158 (+16) after carding back-to-back rounds of eight-over-par 79. In all, Davidson had 21 pars and one birdie.
Micah Lenway signed off on a 163 (+21) tournament total to tie for 80th overall. The first year was nine shots better from rounds one to two as he shot six-over-par 77 after an 86 (+15) on Friday.

Madison College was scheduled to play in the Region 4 Preview on September 2-3; however, the WolfPack pulled out of the event over the weekend. They are scheduled to compete at the Maverick Fall Brawl at Troy Burne Golf Club in Hudson, Wisconsin, on September 14-15. The event is hosted by NCAA Division II Minnesota State-Mankato.
