The Madison College men's and women's basketball programs both took major steps forward in 2024-25, and as a result, both will compete in the upcoming NJCAA Region 4 Division II Basketball Tournament with quarterfinal games on Thursday, February 27. The WolfPack men earned a #6 seed overall and will host #11-seeded Carl Sandburg College in District B bracket, while the women's team qualified as the #12 seed and will travel to play #5-seeded Carl Sandburg College in the District A bracket. Winners from both games will advance to the semifinal rounds this weekend.
2025 NJCAAÂ Region 4 Division II Men's Basketball Tournament
In their first year competing at the Division II level, Madison College snuck into the field of 16 and was ousted in the quarterfinals by top-seeded South Suburban College, who went on to finish national runners-up. The WolfPack, who opened the year with 11 straight wins against region opponents, improved enough this winter to secure a home game in the opening round and will play the Chargers (18-12) for the third time this season. The regular season series was swept by Madison College with an
84-72 road win and a
101-95 overtime victory at home. Carl Sandburg College leads the all-time series by a 6-2 count, with Thursday's upcoming quarterfinal marking the first postseason meeting. Tip off is slated for 6:30 p.m. inside

The winner advances to a 6:00 p.m. semifinal on Sunday, March 2 in Rockford, Illinois, against the winner of #3-seeded South Suburban College (20-10) and #14-seeded Prairie State College (11-19). The rest of the bracket features #2-seeded Waubonsee Community College (27-3) taking on #15-seeded College of Lake County (9-18), and #7-seeded Moraine Valley Community College (15-15) against #10-seeded Milwaukee Area Technical College (12-17). The District B bracket features both of last year's Region 4 champions in SSC and MATC. This year's tournament champion earns an automatic bid to the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball National Championships in Danville, Illinois, from March 17-22.

The WolfPack women have enjoyed a remarkable turnaround from a single win in 2023-24 to an 11-16 campaign this season, resulting in their first appearance in the postseason after moving up to Division II. Madison College is riding a two-game win streak into the postseason, where they will try to avenge a pair of regular season losses of
77-61 and
68-59 against the Chargers (21-9). Carl Sandburg College boasts an 8-5 lead in head-to-head matchups, with all prior 13 being played during the regular season. Game time in Galesburg, Illinois, is at 6:00 p.m. and can be watched live

Thursday's winner moves on to a semifinal game on Saturday, March 1 at 2:00 p.m. in Rockford, Illinois, against the winner of #4-seeded Black Hawk College (21-8) and #13-seeded Bryant & Stratton College (13-14). The rest of the District A includes #1-seeded Rock Valley College (22-8) taking on #16-seeded Elgin Community College (3-22), and #8-seeded College of DuPage (16-13) battling #9-seeded South Suburban College (13-15). The tournament winner earns and automatic spot in the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball National Championships in Joplin, Missouri, from March 17-22.
