Three second half goals get WolfPack back in win column, halt two-match skid

Madison College holds Bryant & Stratton without a single shot in sixth shutout win

MILWAUKEE, WISC. - Coming off back-to-back shutout losses and facing a 0-0 tie at halftime Wednesday in a Region 4 match, the Madison College women's soccer team found their scoring touch and posted a 3-0 win over in-state rival Bryant & Stratton College. Freshman Hayleigh Motelet scored her first career goal before sophomores Ava Schmidt and Suzy Hinds Cruz added on, and the WolfPack defense held BSC without a shot for the entirety of the match en route to the team's sixth shutout win of the season. The victory is the fourth straight for the Pack against the Bobcats, evening the all-time series at 4-4.

Madison College generated seven total shots in the first half; however, the Bryant & Stratton College (1-9) goalkeeper was up to the challenge with five saves. The WolfPack saw a Chloe Voung shot ricochet off the crossbar late in the half before taking a 0-0 tie into halftime.

After a bevy of shots went high or wide early in the second half, the Pack finally converted in the 68' when Motelet netted her first collegiate goal. The midfielder from Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, scored on a wide open net off a pass from Hinds Cruz.

The WolfPack increased their lead in the final ten minutes with goals in the 82' and 88'. Schmidt, a native of Lake Mills, Wisconsin, tracked down a loose ball after a deflection in the BSC penalty area and proceeded to score on a low kick through the defense and past the 'keeper. It was the third goal of the season for the forward.

The final goal of the day was produced by Hinds Cruz as she converted a pass from Voung for her team-leading eighth goal of the year and the 21st of her career.

Madison College amassed a 21-0 advantage in total shots and a 12-0 differential in shots on goal, to go along with a 15-0 edge in corner kicks. Goalkeeper Kaelyn Welch earned her sixth clean sheet of the season and the 11th of her career.
