ALGONQUIN, ILL. - The Madison College men's golf team won their third tournament of the fall season Monday, claiming the team trophy at the Judson Invitational at the Golf Club of Illinois with a 308 score. Four WolfPack players placed in the tournament's Top-10, led by the second runner-up finish of the year for freshman Deegan Riley. The team victory marks the third of the season for the Pack, marking the most in a year since the 2015-16 campaign.

Madison College's 308 is the team's fifth-best tally this fall, and was good enough to edge out Region 4 foe Oakton College by four strokes. The eight-team field featured three two-year schools and five four-year programs.

Riley signed off on an 18-hole score of three-over-par 74 to tie for second place, one shot off the medalist score of 73 from Salvador Paravicini of the host Eagles. The freshman from Milton, Wisconsin, now boasts a 73.8 scoring average.



Joining Riley with Top-10 finishes were fellow first year Jacob Brown, sophomore Brent Schmiesing, and freshman Sam Knight. Brown tied for fifth with a five-over 76, and Schmiesing was a shot back at 77 (+6) to tie for seventh overall. Knight, a Madison, Wisconsin, native, shot a career-best seven-over-par 78 to be part of a four-way tie for tenth while playing as an individual. 

Madison College's final counted score towards the team win came from freshman Henry Pickhardt as the former Madison Memorial HS athlete turned in a plus-ten 81 to tie for 18th place. Alex Sutter, another first year player, tied for 28th overall with an 85 (+14).

Madison College continues the fall slate on Thursday, October 5 at the multi-team College of DuPage Invitational. The event starts at 12:30 p.m. at Cantigny Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinois.
