Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

#3 Milwaukee Tech too much for WolfPack

Three score in double-figures in opener of three-game homestand

MADISON, WISC. - Looking for a signature win with an upset over their in-state rival, the Madison College men's basketball team dropped a 108-65 game in North Central Community College Conference play Tuesday night inside H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium. The WolfPack kept the game close for the game's opening six minutes before the Stormers, ranked #3 in the NJCAA Division II Poll, went on an offensive surge to score 65 first half points. MATC-Milwaukee has won seven in a row against the Pack, who still own a 64-55 lead in the all-time series.

After both teams drained three-pointers on their opening possessions, Madison College battled back from a 10-5 deficit to get within one at 12-11 following Nik Feller's second three-pointer. Milwaukee Area Technical College (17-2, 3-0) responded with eight consecutive points. The WolfPack were able to keep the deficit inside of ten over the next couple minutes, however, the Stormers would outscore the home team 38-12 over the final ten minutes of the half. The differential peaked at 48 in the second half, which also saw Madison College use a Keith Hoffman dunk to start a 9-0 run.

Hoffman, a sophomore forward/center from Stevens Point, Wisconsin, finished with 17 points, eight rebounds, nad three assists. He was 6 of 15 overall with a three-pointer and four free throws.

Freshman Deante Luster also dropped in 17 points on 6 of 19 shooting and hit two 3-pointers, while also going 3 for 6 from the line. He added four rebounds and three assists to the tenth double-digit scoring game of the season for the Milwaukee, Wisconsin, native.

Feller, a former Poynette HS athlete, contributed 14 points and eight boards. He made 3 of 7 attempts from beyond the arc as part of a 4 for 11 effort overall with three free throws.

Madison College shot a season-low 28% (21-74) from the floor, and were 7 of 26 (67%) from long range and 16 for 21 (76%) at the charity stripe. The Stormers converted at a 59% clip overall with nine 3's and were a perfect 17 of 17 at the line. The visitors controlled the glass by a 53-28 margin and generated a 54-22 edge in points in the paint.

The long-time rivals are schedule to meet again on February 9 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
