Keepers Thompson, Lange combine for shutout, while four others record a goal

KISHWAUKEE, ILL. - The third straight road game to start the 2022 season provided the Madison College women's soccer team an opportunity to showcase their offensive abilities, rolling to a 7-0 win over Kishwaukee College in a matchup of two Region 4 programs. Goalkeepers Morgan Thompson and Olivia Lange combined for the team's first shutout win, while three players each registered two goals in the match. The WolfPack now boast a 1-0 lead in the all-time series.

It took less than four minutes for to generate on a shot on goal, and less than five minutes for their second shot to hit the back of the net. Freshman forward Madison Johnson converted a Lexi Kulow pass to put the Pack on top. Three shots and 12 minutes later, and Johnson set up first year midfielder Mahala Frey for her first career goal.

The score remained 2-0 past the 30' mark, which is when Madison College put the match out of reach. Kulow's first goal of the match and second of the season came in the 33' on an assist from Grace Huber. Frey made it her first career multi-goal game with a scoring strike in the 36' thanks to another Johnson assist. Johnson, a native of Burgin, Kentucky, was back on the scoring end after a set of passes from Cassidy Olson and Liz Foye provided for her second goal of the match and third of the season.

A pair of goals in a 75-second window early in the second half turned a 5-0 halftime lead into the 7-0 route the match ended with, and both goals were off the same foot. Freshman midfielder Kierstin McHugh, a former Madison Memorial HS athlete, became the third WolfPack player to score two goals in the match when she first converted a Johnson pass in the 49', and then followed in the 50' with a score off a Kulow assist.

Madison College dominated the match, holding Kishwaukee Community College (0-1) to two total shots en route to the shutout win. Thompson, a goalie from New Glarus, Wisconsin, recorded a save in the first half, and Lange, a native of Lodi, Wisconsin, did the same in the second.
