VERNON HILLS, ILL. & WAUKESHA, WISC. - The Madison College golf team demonstrated noticeable improvements from one day to the next as they competed in the Forester Spring Invite on Friday at
White Deer Run Golf Club and the WLC Spring Invitational at
Morningstar Golfers Club on Saturday. The WolfPack shot 341 and placed ninth at the event hosted by Lake Forest College, and improved by 20 strokes and one place with a 321 score and eighth place finish at the Wisconsin Lutheran College event. Freshmen
Jake Rebholz and
Tyler Dahl tied for team-high honors with rounds of 84 to begin the weekend, with Rebholz then producing a career-best 76 to cap the weekend.
Event #1: Forester Spring Invite (Host: Lake Forest College)
Fighting cold and windy conditions, the WolfPack struggled to score. Madison College, the only full two-year college team, wound up ninth out of 12 teams, finishing five shots ahead of the host Foresters' B team and three back of Lakeland University. Aurora University took the team title with a 304.
Rebholz and Dahl finished in a seven-way tie for 31st overall with 12-over-par 84's. The duo was 13 shots off the pace of Aurora's Scott Boyajian. (NOTE: Also in the group tied at 84 was former WolfPack golfer Ryan Beck, who now competes for Edgewood College.)
Newest team member
Darris Schuett, a New Glarus, Wisconsin, native, carded his best round of the spring season, signing off on a 14-over-par 86 to place 44th overall.
Matt Paulson registered the team's fourth counted score with an 87 (+15) to tie for 45th.
Nicholas Kipp posted a 90 (+18) and was tied for 53rd out of 70 golfers.

Event #2: WLC Spring Invitational (Host: Wisconsin Lutheran College)
Conditions for the weekend's second round lessened slightly, and Madison College took advantage to amass its best score of the spring and fifth-best team score in 2021-22. The 321 was part of an extremely competitive leaderboard that saw the top nine teams finish within 13 strokes of each other. MSOE claimed the team title at 309. The WolfPack also bested their 2021 score at Morningstar GC by 22 shots.
Rebholz, a native of Verona, Wisconsin, used three birdies and nine pars to net the career-best round of four-over-par 76. He tied for tenth overall to mark his first career top-ten finish. The tournament medalist was just five shots better as MSOE's Garrett Schultz.
Tyler Dahl was second on the team with his first sub-80 round of the spring at seven-over-par 79. The product of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, tied for 24th after netting a dozen pars.
One day after best round of the season,
Darris Schuett did five better with a nine-over-par 81 that featured a birdie and eight pars. He tied for 32nd overall.
Matt Paulson finished out the team's scoring with a tie for 51st at 85 (+13), which counted nine pars.

Madison College returns to action on Sunday, April 24 with the Carroll Classic, hosted by Carroll University, at Dretzka Park Golf Course in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The WolfPack will begin play at 9:00 a.m.
