Madison College, College of DuPage battle to 0-0 draw on Sophomore Day

Thompson shuts out Chaparrals with eight saves

MADISON, WISC. - Saturday at Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch-East started with a celebration, but ended with neither celebration nor disappointment as the Madison College women's soccer team played former N4C and Region 4 rival College of DuPage to a 0-0 draw. Freshman Morgan Thompson led the defensive charges in posting her third complete match clean sheet of the season. Prior to kickoff, the team honored the ten-member Class of 2022 for Sophomore Day. The group included Hope McFarlin, Olivia Lange, Taylor Peterson, Paris Rose, Sydney Maksymo, Liz Foye, Lexi Kulow, Julia Aulik, Marin Stauffacher, and Cassidy Olson

The Chaparrals, who moved up to Division II prior to this season, held the upper hand throughout most of the first half, placing all five of their shots on goal, while only three of Madison College's five total shots were considered on goal. The defenses really dug their heels in for the season half, with the teams combining for just four shots on goal. The only SOG for the WolfPack came in the 89' from freshman Kierstin McHugh.

Thompson, a former New Glarus HS athlete, recorded eight saves in the team's second draw this fall. Offensively, Kulow and Peterson each had two total shots, with Peterson, Foye, McHugh, and Aune credited with one shot on goal each.

The draw moves the all-time series count to 10-6-2 in favor of the College of DuPage (2-3-2)
