WolfPack pick up third straight win with defeat of Bryant & Stratton

Madison College will close out home stand, regular with N4C matches Tuesday & Thursday

MADISON, WISC. - The Madison College women's volleyball team will enter the final week of the regular season riding a three-match win streak after Friday's 3-1 victory over in-state and Region 4 foe Bryant & Stratton College inside H .Douglas Redsten Gymnasium. The WolfPack dropped the first set, but regained their poise and controlled much of the match from there in winning 22-25, 25-18, 25-13, and 25-22 to earn a sweep of two regular season meetings. The win improves the all-time series record to 4-1 in favor of the 'Pack.

Visiting Bryant & Stratton College (9-12) got out to a hot start by taking a 10-2 lead in the first set, however, the WolfPack responded and pulled to within 20-19 before dropping five of the last eight points. After a steadying effort to win the second set, the home team sprinted to an 11-0 start in the third set on the service rally of Jadyn Holman. She also capped a strong fourth set for Madison College with a kill to end the match and thwart a late Bobcats rally.

Madison College hit just .159 with 45 kills, and their five service aces are the fewest in the last ten matches. On the flip side, the 'Pack tallied 9.0 blocks, their most in 11 matches, and 94 digs for the fourth-highest total in a four-set match this season.

Sophomore Abigail Lewis posted her second double-digit kills effort in the past five outings as she produced a team-high 11 kills on 30 attempts for a .233 attack percentage. The Stoughton, Wisconsin, native boasts eight such matches with double-digit kills. Fellow second year Calla Borchert was right behind with nine kills and a .368 efficiency. The former Lake Mills HS athlete was also tops defensively with 5.0 blocks for the seventh time this fall. Holman finished with eight kills and Maya Adams added seven.

Freshman Mariah Best enjoyed most of the workload at setter and finished with 33 assists, her third highest total this season. Best, a native of Waunakee, Wisconsin, also registered her fifth double-double of the fall with a dozen digs.

Second year libero Amelia Walton enjoyed the most digs with 28, while Holman stacked up 15. Holman also led the team with three aces.
