MADISON, WISC. - The Madison College women's volleyball team picked up its second sweep this season against the Lakeland University JV with a 3-0 victory Thursday night inside
H .Douglas Redsten Gymnasium. The 25-19, 25-8, 25-22 decision marks the ninth win in as many meetings against the Muskies, and gives the 'Pack a two-match win streak as they open a four-match home stand to close out the regular season.
The match started slow for Madison College, which posted eight kills and eight attack errors for a .000 attack percentage in the opening set, but rebounded mightily with a dozen kills and a .455 efficiency in the second set. The match finished with the WolfPack hitting .230 with 30 kills, 13 aces, and 45 digs. The 'Pack has reached double-digit aces in six of their last seven matches, and have averaged 13.3 aces per match over that stretch.
Tops offensively for the home team was sophomore outside hitter
Jadyn Holman with nine kills on a 22 attempts.
Calla Borchert and
Abigail Lewis followed with seven kills each.
Freshman
Mariah Best earned a bulk of the setter work and racked up 15 assists, while
Kaleia Lawrence had nine assists.
The impressive service game was keyed by Borchert's four aces, as well as three each for Holman and
Amelia Walton.
Defensively, Walton chased down a team-best 11 digs, and first year right side/middle blocker
Kaiyli Thompson was tops above the net with 2.0 blocks. The Johnson Creek, Wisconsin, native now has 6.0 blocks on the year.
