MILWAUKEE, WISC. - Two in-state and Region 4 foes battled to a fifth set Thursday night at Mount Mary University, and when the dust settled, the Madison College women's volleyball team earned a tough 3-2 win over Bryant & Stratton College. Playing their eighth five-set match in the season's first 13 contests - all played away from home - the WolfPack came out on top by scores of 21-25, 25-12, 28-26, 24-26, and 15-9. The all-time series now favors the 'Pack by a 3-1 margin.
The WolfPack posted a positive attack percentage in every set, including a match-high .333 in the fifth set after a .324 efficiency in the fourth set, to finish at a .178 clip. The 49 total kills were the fewest in a five-set match for Madison College.
Two players reached double-figure kills, led by sophomore
Calla Borchert with 15 kills and a team-high .469 hitting percentage. The middle blocker from Lake Mills, Wisconsin, now boasts five matches with at least ten kills. Borchert was tough on both sides of the net with a match-high 3.0 blocks.
Second year outside hitter/defensive specialist
Amelia Walton registered a career-high 13 kills as part of her first double-double of the year with 24 digs. It was the second double-digit kills performance for the former Verona Area HS athlete, and the fifth match of ten-plus digs.
Sophomore setter
Kaleia Lawrence also established a career-high with 40 assists, and added 11 digs for a double-double. It marked her second match with 30 or more assists this fall. Defensive specialist
Aubrie Kappes was tops in aces with three.
Defensive specialist
Abby Steinhauer matched Walton with 24 digs to pace the 'Pack. The native of Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin, is tops on the team this season with 261 digs.

Madison College (5-8, 0-2), which played 13 straight matches away from home, will host in-state and North Central Community College Conference rival Milwaukee Area Technical College (1-5, 0-2) on Tuesday, September 21. The match, however, will not be played at Madison College Truax Campus due to on-going conflicts with construction upgrades to the athletic facilities. The match has moved to
Sports Enhancement Academy (SEA) - Stoughton and will start at 6:00 p.m. The WolfPack enter the match with a 35-match win streak against the Stormers that dates back to 2003. The all-time series sits at 89-29-3 in favor of Madison College.
