With a large number of returning players set to lead the WolfPack back on the pitch, Madison College men's soccer head coach
Cory Sims has announced a five-member Class of 2019, with all five being graduates of area schools in the Big Eight Conference. The group - highlighted by four former teammates from Sun Prairie High School, three of which also played together for United Players Soccer Academy - includes
Bubacarr Bah (Sun Prairie, WI),
Jheison Garcia (Madison, WI),
Ian Marquardt (Sun Prairie, WI),
Kebba Saidy (Sun Prairie, WI), and
Ebrima Sallah (Sun Prairie, WI).
Bubacarr Bah is a midfielder that produced 20 points on a Sun Prairie Cardinals team that qualified for the WIAA Division 1 State Tournament for the first time in school history. The three-year varsity player netted four goals and tallied a dozen assists in 20 matches played as a senior. Bah was a honorable mention all-conference selection as a sophomore after aiding the Cardinals in a Big Eight Conference title.
"Bubacarr is an all-action player, a two-way player who makes an impact with his fearlessness and aggressiveness. He does very well in 1v1 situations and will add decisiveness to our midfield group."
Jheison Garcia played his prep soccer at Madison West High School, helping the Regents to a 9-2-5 record as a senior. He also played in the Madison 56ers organization.
"Jheison is a wide player with good attacking instincts and an understanding of defensive responsibilities. He is confident in 1v1 situations and will add another dimension to our attack. His maturity and desire to develop as a player should see him go from strength to strength on the pitch for the WolfPack."
Ian Marquardt is a versatile player that scored three goals and dished out two assists as a senior. He helped the Cardinals reach the WIAA Division 1 State Tournament with a goal in their region final win over Middleton.
"Ian is a very focused and very mature person, and that translates into his ability to sacrifice himself for the good of the team. He is selfless in his play and helps keep his teammates on task. He is able to play in a number of positions and will add some much needed stability for us in central areas."
Kebba Saidy saw action in 14 matches for Sun Prairie, earning a goal and an assist on a team that finished 14-6-3 and reached the state semifinals.
"Kebba has the versatility to play in a number of positions on defense or midfield. He reads the game well and plays within himself. He will add security and dependability in crucial areas on the pitch. He is eager to learn and grow, and I am excited to see how he will continue to develop in our program."
Ebrima Sallah is a 5'9" defender that logged time in 18 matches as the Cardinals made their march to the WIAA Division 1 State Tournament.
"Ebrima is comfortable playing under pressure, which should see him be successful at this level. Opponents are usually high-energy and look to disrupt play, so it is crucial to have composed players who can make good decisions with reduced space and time. Ebrima is comfortable in many positions on the back line, so he will add more skill and strength to those areas for us."
