The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named Madison College sophomore
Jarrett Scheelk as the
Division II Baseball Player of the Week for April 8-14 (Week 12). The award is the first such national honor for Scheelk, and the first this season for the WolfPack.
Scheelk, a second year first baseman, batted .470 with 14 runs batted in and six runs scored as the 'Pack went 5-0 during the week. The Green Bay, Wisconsin, native registered eight hits and one walk in 17 at-bats. Five of those hits went for extra bases, including three home runs. The first long ball came in the form of a grand slam as part of an 8-1 win at Milwaukee Area Technical College, while the other two occurred in the same game as Madison College topped Kankakee Community College 7-1 behind four RBI from Scheelk.
On the season, Scheelk is batting .319 and leads the team with six home runs and 27 runs batted in. He and the WolfPack, who are currently receiving votes in the latest
