WAUWATOSA, WISC. - The first-ever women's soccer meeting Saturday between Madison College and Bryant & Stratton College ended with a 2-0 road loss for the WolfPack that marks the first time this season they were held without a goal. The Bobcats also snapped a seven-match unbeaten streak in handing their
#9-ranked 'Pack their second loss of the fall.
A sluggish start saw Madison College play the first 40 minutes without generating a single shot until a header by sophomore
Jenna Kohrt off a corner kick was denied by the Bryant & Stratton College (7-2-1) goalkeeper, who also prevented a goal right before the first half buzzer by second year defender
Kaitlyn Clapper shortly after another corner kick. Prior to those two attempts, the Bobcats had posted 13 total shots and put seven on goal, including a try following a corner kick in the 21' that found its way into the back of the net and snapped a 343 scoreless minutes streak for sophomore goalkeeper
Kelly Kubicek.
The WolfPack found more life, and more shots, in the second half, but were unable to find the equalizing goal. Their best opportunity came on a penalty kick in the 54', however, freshman midfielder/defender
Lydia Webster's attempt was again saved by the Bobcats 'keeper. Seven minutes later, the home team struck again with an unassisted goal to take a 2-0 lead. The 'Pack managed three more shots, with one on goal, over the final 30 minutes before ending without a goal for the first time since the 2018 Region IV Championship Game.
Bryant & Stratton College racked up 14 more shots and nine more shots on goal. Kohrt, a native of Monona, Wisconsin, and the team's leading scorer, had a team-high three total shots, while being matched by Webster with two shots on goal each. Kubicek set season-high marks with 14 shots faced, a dozen saves made, and two goals allowed.
