RALLY, RALLY: WolfPack charge back from two-set hole to beat Rock Valley

Corcoran, Hostetler lead come-from-behind effort to snap two-match losing streak

MADISON, WISC. - Down two-sets-to-none for the second consecutive match, the Madison College volleyball team was able to avoid a third straight loss by mounting a come-from-behind win in five matches Thursday against Rock Valley College at H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium. The Golden Eagles narrowly won the first set 25-23 before storming out to an early lead in a 25-17 set two victory. However, the momentum shifted with a 25-17 WolfPack win in set three, followed by emotionally intense win of 25-20 and 15-9 to end the North Central Community College Conference match and the losing streak.

Madison College posted 13.4 kills per match en route to a season-high 67 kills overall and a .258 attack percentage, their best average since hitting .447 in last weekend's win over #10 Northland Community & Technical College. Defensively, the WolfPack's 100 digs mark the third match this season in which they reached the century mark, aiding in a 14th consecutive win in the head-to-head series with Rock Valley (10-9, 2-3).

Sophomore outside hitter Megan Corcoran was a force all match with career-high 21 kills on a .400 attack percentage, the second highest mark of the season in the dozen matches with at least ten kills. Freshman Paige Hostetler, also an outside hitter, did most of her damage in the matches' final three sets on her way to a 18 kills, one shy of tying a career best. The Green Bay, Wisconsin, native had just three hitting errors in a team-high 46 attack attempts for a .326 efficiency. Second year Samantha Jacobsen also reached double-figures in kills with ten and a .206 hitting percentage.

Setter Keely Brown, a sophomore from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, matched a career-high with 37 assists, while freshman Olivia Darkow tallied 13. Five players amassed double-digit digs, led by libero Maddie Scalissi's 24, which also tied a career-best from earlier this season. With their dig totals, Brown (18), Corcoran (17), and Darkow (14) each tallied double-doubles for the match. Kendra Nicolay was the fifth player, with a dozen digs. The former Lodi High School athlete also paced the WolfPack with three service aces, including the game-winner. And Mariah Capra, a freshman from Turtle Lake, Wisconsin, finished atop the blocks list with five.
