The Madison College Women's Volleyball team claimed the 2015 Harper College Invitational by winning four straight games over two days. The WolfPack beat Waubonsee Community College, John A. Logan College, Rochester Community & Technical College and Lake Land College each 3-1 to win the title.
Game #1 - vs. Waubonsee Community CollegeIn game one, on Friday in Palatine, IL, the WolfPack beat Waubonsee Community College 25-5, 19-25, 25-22, 25-19. Madison College dominated the first game, lost the second and won the last two hard fought games to claim a 3-1 match win.
Taylor Genthe led the WolfPack in kills while
Brianne Brueggen had 36 assists.
Kaitlin Mooney posted 14 digs,
Allie Lehner had six blocks and
Abbey Loken had four aces against the Cheifs.
Game #2 - vs. John A. Logan College (IL)In game two, on Friday, Madison College got out of the gate slow losing game one, 25-23. The WolfPack then won a hard fought 26-24 game two to tie the match. Madison College then took care of business in the last two games winning 25-18 and 25-23.
Allie Lehner had 12 kills and five blocks to lead her team.
Brianne Brueggen posted 43 assists while teammate,
Stevie Winer, had a game-high 24 digs.
Abbey Loken continued her good serving by recording two more tournament aces.
Game #3 - vs. Rochester Community & Technical CollegeIn the first game of day two, the WolfPack face Rochester CTC. Madison College jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a 25-23 first game victory. In game two, the Yellowjackets tied it up with a 25-18 win. The WolfPack proved tough over the final two games, winning both, 25-23 and 25-19.
TeAnn Harms had 17 kills and
Abbey Loken had 14 kills to power the 'Pack.
Stevie Winer had 25 digs and
Brianne Brueggen had 45 assists.
Allie Lehner played big at the net, claiming five blocks and
Andrea Bauer had the WolfPack's only ace.
Game #4 - Lake Land College (IL)In the final game of the tournament, Madison College faced Lake Land College. The WolfPack jumped out early to a one game advantage, winning game one, 25-18. Yet again, the 'Pack had a game two let down, losing 25-21 but as was the case in this tournament Madison College owned games three and four winning 25-19 and 25-14 to claim the tournament title.
Abbey Loken was the fourth Madison College player to lead the WolfPack in kills during the tournament as she recorded a game-high 15.
Brianne Brueggen did it all by leading her team in assists (39), digs (18) and aces (1). Allie LEahner and
TeAnn Harms also posted one ace while
Stevie Winer posted 18 digs as well.
The WolfPack won the tournament and improved to 15-4 overall, winning their twelfth straight game dating back to September 1. Madison College is currently ranked #2 in the nation in the NJCAA Division III latest poll.
