A 17-0 run to close the first half by Gogebic Community College erased a five-point Madison College lead and proved to be too much to overcome in a 66-56 setback for the WolfPack men's basketball team. The loss sent the hosts to an 0-2 mark in the two-day, four-team Border Battle Classic at Redsten Gym.
Kristian Zimmerman scored in double-figures for the second straight game, leading the WolfPack with 15 points, eight rebounds, and three assists.
Malik Henderson added twelve points on a day when ten-different players scored for
Scot Vesterdahl's club. Overall, the team connected on 31.1% of its shots.
The WolfPack controlled the interior with a 20-15 edge in points in the paint, however, it was not enough to overcome the hot outside shooting of the Samsons. Gogebic sank 14 3-pointers in the game, shooting 41.2% from beyond the arc and 37.1% from the floor overall.
Prior to this game, MATC-Milwaukee defeated Anoka-Ramsey Community College 104-97 in overtime to finish as the lone team with a 2-0 record in the Border Battle classic.
Madison College will attempt to end a two-game skid when they host UW-Rock County for Parent's Night on Tuesday, November 10 at Redsten Gym. The game will tip are 7:30 p.m.
