WolfPack Volleyball Wins Region IV Title, Moves on to Nationals

The Madison College volleyball team is the NJCAA Region IV Champions once again! The WolfPack defeated the College of DuPage in the Region IV Tournament opener on October 31, before claiming the Region IV title with a 25-15, 25-18, 25-15 win over the Rock Valley College Golden Eagles on Saturday. By winning the Region IV Tournament in Glen Ellyn, IL, the WolfPack have claimed their third straight Region Title and are headed back to the NJCAA DIII National Tournament in Rochester, MN for the third consecutive season. The 28-4 volleyball is coming off of back-to-back NJCAA DIII National Titles and is looking to match the 1995-1997 Madison College baseball program that won three straight NJCAA National Titles.

TeAnn Harms led the way with nine kills, and the trio of Allie Lehner, Andrea Bauer, and Abbey Loken all added eight kills in the championship game. Lehner recorded a .500 attack percentage, and Harms finished second on the squad with a .400 percentage, as Madison College dominated with 38 overall kills to Rock Valley's 25. Madison College only had nine errors in 117 kill attempts for a team attack percentage of .248. Second year player Brianne Brueggen once again led the team in assists with 30 of the team's 34 helpers, and three members of the 'Pack reached double digits in digs in the route. Stevie Winer paced the team with 20, and Brueggen and Kaitlin Mooney added 11 and 10 digs respectively. Taylor Genthe recorded a team-high six blocks (2 solo) and Allie Lehner added four blocks (2 solo), while Bauer led the way with three service aces.

The 28-4 WolfPack have nearly two weeks of practice before making the trip up to Rochester, MN for the November 13-14 NJCAA DIII National Tournament. The eight-team tournament will be held at the UCR Regional Sports Complex on the campus of Rochester Community and Technical College. Please refer to the Madison College Athletics website for seedings and tournament pairings as they are made available.
