Despite six errors, WolfPack baseball beats Sauk Valley

Box Score Thursday, the Madison College baseball team overcame a poor defensive effort to beat Sauk Valley Community College 8-4. The WolfPack finished with six errors in the game, but used 14 hits to secure the victory.

Madison College took an early 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first. Both runs came off the bat of sophomore Dan Schmidt, who doubled to right to bring in Keith Browning and Danny Krause.

Browning would add to the WolfPack lead in the second. His single to right would help to plate Mike Jordahl, resulting in the Madison College lead growing to 3-1.

The Skyhawks would rally back, scoring two runs on two hits in the fourth to tie the game at 3-3. The 'Pack would regain the lead for good in the bottom of the inning though.

Browning would add another single in the bottom of the fourth to bring in Krause. Up 4-3, the team would add two more in the fifth, essentially putting the game away.

What would prove to be the eventual winning run came off the bat of Mike Jordahl. Jordahl's sac fly to left plated Dylan Detert, putting Madison College up 5-3.

Nathan Hoffmann (2-2) got the win in relief for Madison College. Hoffmann threw two and two-thirds innings, giving up just one hit and one unearned run.
