WolfPack softball swept by College of DuPage

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 They put up a good fight, especially in game one of their doubleheader, but in the end the College of DuPage proved too tough a test for the Madison College softball team Tuesday. The WolfPack was eventually swept by the Chaparrals, losing by scores of 3-2 and 6-0.

The only runs scored by the 'Pack came in the second inning. With neither team yet on the scoreboard, Michelle Francois changed things with one swing of the bat, hitting a single to center to score Nicole Hoffmann. Shortly after, an error by the College of DuPage gave Brianna Wagner an easy trip home.

Still tied at two in the bottom of the seventh, the Chaparrals would score the game-winning run off the bat of Brandi Riess. Her single to center brought Amanda Manton home, resulting in the 3-2 final score.

Paige Weber took the loss on the mound for Madison College. Weber threw one and one-third innings, allowing just two hits and a single run.

Game two, the College of DuPage would score a combined five runs in the first two innings and never look back. Offensively, the WolfPack would finish with just three hits, two coming back-to-back to begin the second inning.

Paige Giese was charged with the loss in game two. Giese threw five innings, giving up five hits and six runs, only one of which was earned.

Thursday, Madison College (8-13, 1-3) will visit Harper College for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. The WolfPack will be looking for revenge, after seeing the Hawks sweep them Monday.
